Bounce Houses and Moonwalks

Just Having Some Fun
Thanks to John Scurlock, founder of the Star Walk company, and creator of the first inflatable amusement attraction, bounce houses and moonwalks have become a billion-dollar industry worldwide. Begun in 1959 as an attempt to design an inflatable tennis court cover, Scurlock quickly recognized its greater potential when he observed some workers bouncing, playing, and having fun on the inflated surface. After making some improvements and adding walls for safety, his invention gained enormous popularity among children at fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks. The inflatable apparatus is now being marketed and manufactured as "moonwalks," "bounce houses," "inflatable bouncers" and many other bouncy names.

Bigger Not Always Better
Made of durable vinyl, nylon, or PVC, inflatable bounce houses have evolved from their use primarily as commercial attractions, to smaller designs better suited for everyday backyard parties and indoor playrooms. The myriad of sizes, colors, and themes boasted by today's moonwalks are perfect for almost every occasion. Transparent side-wall construction allows parental viewing while protecting children from accidental falls.

Bounce House for Rent
In addition to purchasing interactive inflatables, some locations offer rental bounce houses for annual events and celebration. Rental moonwalks are a convenient way to celebrate birthdays or throw a block party without incurring the expense of large equipment purchases.

Other Residential and Commercial Inflatables
The success of moonwalks has led to the creation of other bouncing amusements.

All of these air-filled apparatuses originated from John Scurlock's Star Walk, and are the result of mankind's great affinity for gravity-defying fun.
